Muromcew for Teton County Commissioner

JACKSON, Wyo. — Less than a month after County Commissioner candidate Alex Muromcew (Alex4TetonCounty) released his campaign platform, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) has already made remarkable strides implement key elements of the platform.

“It gives me great satisfaction that they are embracing my common sense, action-oriented plan,” quipped Muromcew.

The first campaign platform item that the BCC checked off Muromcew’s campaign platform was eliminating the $40mn SPET proposal to move the rodeo grounds.

“That was a no-brainer,” exclaimed Muromcew. “The rodeo grounds are an integral part of our town’s heritage. Is that the best use of $40mm of our Teton County tax dollars?”

Fortunately, the County Commissioners agreed.

The boldest statement in Muromcew’s campaign platform was to reduce the county mill levy to zero in order to alleviate some of the high cost of living and high cost of entry in Teton County.

According to a campaign spokesperson, Muromcew’s campaign proposal alone shocked many people by its audacity.  Yet just a few weeks later, the BCC voted to reduce the County Mill Levy by -6.7%.  “It’s about time,” declared Muromcew, even as he wondered aloud “is that the best they could do? Really?”

Continuing the momentum with Muromcew’s campaign platform, the BCC, in a dramatic flip flop, decided to reconsider the proposal to convert Legacy Lodge into apartments. The revised proposal from the BCC to have the Darwiche family and the Rafter J HOA sit back down at the table and find common ground over the HOA’s concerns proceeds almost verbatim from what Muromcew, who is Chair of the Teton County Planning Commission, proposed in April in a Commission hearing.  “Glad to see the BCC was paying attention to what I said that night,” trumpeted Muromcew.

Muromcew pledged to work closely with the current BCC to implement more of his platform this summer and fall before the general election.  This way all three incumbents can leave office proud of what they accomplished.
